then they cooked us the best dinner i've had in a b&b anywhere and all for a very very reasonable price. the hosts were lovely as well. it was a magical stay, in an enchanted, old world setting. the hosts went out of their way to make sure i had everything i needed. wonderful meals if you want, and the breakfast is amazing. my room was very spacious and sunny. it's a place to go to feel special. we spent four nights at maison numéro neuf at la souterraine, and couldn't have wished for a better place; the house and the rooms are beautiful, spacious and stylishly decorated. duncan, lisa and both kids are such warm and hospitable people and make you feel welcome in their home. whenever we need a room in that area or for friends or family, we will certainly recommend this little treasure in la souterraine. myself and family of 5 (consists of x2 adults toddler aged 18 months/12 and 15 year old) spent 3 nights at maison numéro neuf at la souterraine, and we couldn't have wished for a better place; the house and the rooms are beautiful, spacious and stylishly decorated, the beds was super comfortable and clean.owners duncan and lisa were very hospitable people and make you feel welcome in their home from the moment you walk in the front door. every morning we were greeted with a luxurious fresh breakfast. very nicely done. the best feature however is the common dining table. the owners used to have a restaurant, and they really cook very well ! we had a great time chatting with them and other travellers. lovely place, in la souterraine (we found it by chance, looking for a place to stay on our way south). as the picture shows, this really is a beautiful old building, tastefully restored by the owners (uk couple). wooden floors, large rooms, that look rustic but are in fact very comfortable with well-equipped bathrooms in retro style. shop we are addicted to ‘brocante’, and never miss an opportunity to trawl the flea markets for ‘treasure’! we now have a selection of our ‘finds’ for-sale in our petite boutique at maison numero neuf, and on-line at www.frenchvintageretro.etsy.com . if you have something that you are particularly looking for, let us know. we never know what we may come across!
